4. Sport Notices - August - Week 2, Term 3 2019

Netball - Saturday 3rd August
Minutes from the North Otago Netball Meeting
- Junior Certificates – prize giving day.  Can all coaches email Mrs Brien their players names for the following certificates asap as she needs to send them to North Otago Netball by 5th August.
Years 3 & 4 – fair play award
Years 5-8 – most improved player and most valuable player

Semi Finals & Finals Day
-  Semi Finals will take place for Intermediate Section 2 and Year 5/6 grade on 10th August, the winners of the semi-final will play in the final on 17th August.
-  Straight Final for Intermediate Section 1 and Intermediate Section 3 on 17th August.
-  Years 3 & 4 will play their round robin game on 17th August

Finals Day – games will be 8 minute quarters with 1 minute quarter break and 2 minute half time.  Games will be played at 9.00 am, 9.40 am, 10.20 am and the grand final will begin at 10.45 am.  Prize giving will be held straight after the final.

Rain Out Days
If the following dates have a rain out day, the following will happen:
- 3rd August – no points, teams will head straight into semi final
- 10th August – teams playing in a semi final will miss out and the following weekend will just be a final between teams 1 and 2.
17th August – no games will be played.  Teams will be placed according to their standings.  Prize giving will be held at the SKC gym beginning at 11.30 am.

Goal-athon money can start coming in this Saturday and the money can be put in the Goal-athon box in the office.  All money needs to be in by 10th August.

Minutes from the North Otago Rugby Meeting
Development/Upskill Session – this is for ages 10, 11 and 12 year olds.  Discussion was held as to 9 year olds participating in this session and it was decided that if coaches think there are some 9 year olds that would benefit from this, it is up to the coach’s discretion to enter them.  This is not a rep fixture and it is 2 days open to all players in this age group.
Dates booked at this stage are Sunday 18th August and Saturday 31st August and both sessions will last all day from 9/10 am to 4/5 pm.  Lunch will be provided for the children.  Further information regarding this development session will come out soon.

Waimate Under 11 Tournament – no date has been set yet.  Maybe a combination of town and country kids.  More details to follow.

Network Waitaki Day – is this Saturday.  Heartland boys will referee the 9/10 and 11/12 year old teams.  There will be a bbq with a free sausage and drink for all players.

Coaches – of the 9/10 and 11/12 teams please make sure all your scores have been forwarded to Jason for end of year trophies.  Can last year’s trophies please be returned to the North Otago Rugby Union office asap.

7/8 grade – on the last day, Athies have a bye on the last day of the season so if anyone is looking for extra players, please get in touch with them.

MINIBALL AND BASKETBALL INFORMATION
Waitaki Boys Miniball Tournament – this is a great opportunity for your school teams to compete in a tournament leading into semi and finals of the local competition or you can just make a team up with the players that are keen to play.

- Date – Sunday 11th August
-  Where – Waitaki Boys High School Gym
-  Times – games start at 9.00 am and the final at 3.00 pm
-  Grades – Premier Grade (Yr 5/6) and A Grade (Yr 3/4)
- Mixed – Boys and girls teams all welcome to enter

Please let your coach know if you are interested.  Entries have to be in by Wednesday 7th August.

End of Season datesMiniball finishes on Tuesday 27th and Basketball finishes on Wednesday 28th August.
