Coding NZ Lessons
In today’s world, it’s essential for young people to learn how to create technology not just
consume it. Coding NZ’s lessons empower students with the tools they need and help give
students the best chance at being successful in our increasingly digital age. Extend your
child’s awareness and horizons. Free trial lessons are available now at codingnz.com/signup See the attachment in the email for further information.
Lost or Misplaced Clothing
After swimming this week, there have been some PE shirts being inadvertently worn by other children when they have got changed. Unfortunately, not all the PE shirts are named (as asked for) but we ask you to check your child's shirts in case they have picked up someone else's by mistake. The misplaced PE tops are named.
A size 16 named polar fleece with the name Kilgour on it has been lost in the playground. so can you please check your child's polar fleece.
Parents Coming into School
Please remember to come to the office if you need to drop anything off to a child or collect a child during school hours as parents are not allowed to go to the classrooms during Level Red.
Swimming
A big thank you to our wonderful parents and grandparents who helped us with our swimming lessons during the last two weeks as you enabled us to walk safely to and from the pool and help with the changing rooms.
The children have been amazing with their progress in their swimming and we thank you, the parents for ensuring the children have their swimming gear each day.
Senior Swimming Sports - a notice will come out tomorrow about these sports.
Touch Rugby
A reminder from North Otago Touch to please use the designated entrance ways when arriving at the grounds and to sign in and show them your vaccine pass. There was a couple of teething problems which will be sorted for next week. We were lucky for the teams to play on Tuesday as we thought the rain would have come earlier. The Yr 7/8 team will play on Tuesday as teams play on a fortnightly basis and anyone over 12 years will have to show their vaccine pass at the grounds.
Below is a reminder from North Otago Touch about the competition.
Anyone who helps organise touch is a volunteer. We have worked extremely hard over the past couple of weeks to find a way to run a Junior Touch competition. It has been difficult, and it certainly would have been much easier to call it quits and put it in the “too hard” basket. In fact, we had several conversations around this.
We are answerable to TouchNZ, and luckily have found a way to run the competition within their COVID guidelines. Yes, this means it is a mandated competition. As we have shared, we do not have the time or resources to be able to run a non-mandated competition. Thanks for understanding, North Otago Junior Touch.
St Joseph's Rockets versus the St Joseph's Ferns team on Tuesday |
Winter Sports Enrolments
A notice will come home tomorrow regarding this.
Yr 8 Leadership Photos
Last week our Yr 8 children were awarded their leadership badges and because there are some students away this week, a group photo with their roles will be in next week's newsletter.
