Tēnā koutou. Greetings to you all. Welcome to the first week of Term 1 for 2022.
Faith Facts
Week 1: Green 31st -
4th February
28th Saint Thomas Aquinas for our School in Winton
31st Saint John Bosco
2nd The
Presentation of the Lord
On February 2, we
observe the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, honoring Jesus Christ’s
presentation in the Temple when he was a young child.
Jesus’ presentation in the Temple reflects how he fulfills the Old Covenant. According to Old Testament law, a sacrifice had to be offered in the Temple when a child was consecrated to the Lord. Mary and Joseph honored this tradition
Special Character Focus:
Prayer and Charism
This term our whole school prayer is focusing on our charism and R.E teaching strand. The aim is to use the whole school prayers as a teaching opportunity and to support our learning in R.E, to bring it into the affective domain as prayer and reflection.
Our special character leaders lead the school with prayer every Monday morning.
This week our focus for R.E teaching is RESPECT. Gospel- John 13:34-35 and Ephesians 4:1-3. Action point: "Love one another". "Kindness towards each other".
Children are being taught about the link between the teaching point, readings, and the action we expect. Children are engaging and be able to share their ideas of what does RESPECT means to them. Also, they were able to unpack some of the key ideas "Jesus" said from the readings that link to our teaching of Respect.
School Mass
We can't be able to have our Mass in the Basilica due to Covid 19 Traffic Red Light system. Our school mass is only done via zoom. Ruma Takahe Year 7/8 is leading Mass today. Next week will be Ruma Hoiho Year 5/6. Thank you, teachers and tamariki for preparing the mass.
