1. Principal's News Week 3, Term 3, 2017

Cross Country
Well done to all our students at cross country on Tuesday.  It was particularly good to see our older students helping and encouraging our younger students.  Check out our Facebook page for more pictures and photos further on the blog.

Please Take Note - School is closed Friday 22nd September
We have put out several notices about this.  This is so our staff can attend Catholic schools professional development.
Next week school mass will be on Tuesday at 9.15am instead of Thursday, to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption.

Staff News
Siobhan Burke our year 2 teacher and Assistant Principal has decided not to return from her maternity leave and to spend time with her young family.  As Siobhan and I have worked together for many years and she is an integral part of St Joseph's, I will miss her very much.  Siobhan has been with us since 2008 when she started as a beginning teacher.  We wish her all the very best with her family.

Ange Asi is presently covering Siobhan's position in year 2 and will continue in this capacity until the end of the year.

Olivia Pope, our sports coordinator has secured a position at Hunting and Fishing in Invercargill and Paula Brien will be taking over her role in two weeks.  We wish Olivia all the best and thank Paula for stepping in.

Aoraki Maths
Our young mathematicians participated in the Aoraki Maths challenge on Tuesday evening at Timaru Boy's High School, competing against South Canterbury teams from as far north as Ashburton.  Our teams had younger members than the other teams and we did very well for our first time in this competition.  Our year 8 team of Corbin Fraser, Fergus McMullan, Seb Spillane and Jonathan Jorgensen finished on the better side of their division.  Our two year 7 teams of Hannah Miller, Anika Winders & Morgan Baillie and Daniel Jorgensen, Zara Davies, Sunny Tian & Samuel Plieger held their own in the year 7 division.  It was a lot of fun.

God Bless and Aroha
