Special Character Focus:
On Monday staff meeting we focused on Religious Education. We first looked at one or two samples of children's work on Jesus Strand to moderate. The aim was to decide which part of the SOLO rubric each piece of work fits. A great collaborative way of learning and discussion on how we are to agreement based on the SOLO rubric assessment criteria.
Our Director for Religious Studies, Mrs Leanne Brookes lead us with preparation for Holy Spirit teaching starting in Week 4. Father Wayne was joining us later at our meeting, he is our great supporter and we are grateful for that.
Here are the key ideas for Holy Spirit-Te Wairua Tapu Strand:
1. The Holy Spirit acts in people and in the Church
2. The Holy Spirit appears in Bible stories
3. The Holy Spirit is the third person the Trinity
4. We have images of the Holy Spirit but these are not the Holy Spirit.

School and Family Mass:
Thank you to Hoiho class for the presentation of the gospel last week. Today Mrs Streat's class-Year 4&5 was presenting the gospel at mass. Next week gospel presentation will be Miss Sollano's class (Kiwi)- Year 3. You are welcome to join us celebrating Mass.
The Mass (faith facts) -At Mass we believe that Christ is present in the priest. The priest acts in the person of Christ and presides over the assembly. The priest and other ministries usually come into the church in a procession. One person carries the cross. Sometimes it is an altar server. The cross helps us to remember that we are at Mass because of Jesus' death and Resurrection.
Welcome Mass-just a reminder for all new families that the welcome mass will be on this Sunday 23rd of May at 9:30 am. Thank you to you all and we are looking forward to seeing you all.
Sacramental Program-
Last Monday was our last parent meeting, preparing parents to support their child about the Sacrament of Confirmation. We had a great turn out, thank you to all parents who came. We are looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday the 30th of May for Confirmation Mass at 9:30am.
Our Sacramental children had their Confirmation lesson on Wednesday 19th and they were guided to understand the journey that they take. To understand Confirmation is the second Sacrament of Initiation. At Confirmation we receive the Holy Spirit, who helps us to become good Christians. It helps us to be brave and tell people by our words and actions that we believe in Jesus.
Also this Sacrament of Confirmation invites each child into a deeper way of relating to God, to Jesus and to one another. They were asked as well as our support- parents, sponsors, parishioners and our school community to spend time this week in daily prayer. Begin with the prayer below and then talk to God about what it is you need to be doing in your life to live out the call of mission. Let us pray together....
Reminder-
Confirmation rehearsal with Bishop Michael Dooley- Friday 28th May at 2.00pm at church

Faith Facts:
Week 3 17th – 21st May (White)
16th The Ascension of Jesus
What is the Ascension? For 40 days after his resurrection on Easter Sunday, the Bible says that Jesus travelled and preached with his apostles, preparing them for his departure from Earth. Ascension Day marks the moment Jesus literally ascended into heaven before his disciples, at the village of Bethany, near Jerusalem
16th Pentecost Sunday is this coming Sunday 23rd May. The word comes from the Greek meaning, "the fiftieth day". It is the name given to the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles fifty days after Easter.
