The next race meeting is Sunday 28th March which is the last one until August. If you have not yet volunteered your time, this is an opportunity to do so.  They need at least 3 people for each session and the times are:
10.00 - 12.00 pm
12.00 - 3.00 pm
3.00 - 6.00 pm

If you are able to help at one of these sessions, please contact Rebecca Heffernan on 027 432 4056 or the office.  Thank you very much to the families who have already offered to help on this day.

Junior School Museum trip
Each family in the junior school should have received a notice regarding their visit to the museum etc this week.  Below is a copy of this notice.

As part of our Inquiry this term - ‘Our future is determined by our past’, the Junior  Syndicate classrooms are visiting the Waitaki Museum, Forrester Gallery and the Victorian Precinct on Monday March 15 from 9.30am until 3pm.

Students are asked to wear their PE uniform including a school sweatshirt. They are also asked to bring a packed morning tea, lunch and filled water bottle. If required, students are also encouraged to bring any medications/ inhalers and hand them to teachers for safekeeping during the visits.

We require a minimum of 6 parents (2 per class) to help walk with the students. Please let your classroom teacher know if you are able to help. Classes will move around the Forrester Gallery, Waitaki Museum and walk around the Victorian Precinct. Students will find out ways the museum and gallery have curated the past in their recent refurbishments and the processes undertaken in looking ahead to the future. They will also find out about some of the history of the buildings and people of Victorian Ōamaru on a walking tour of the Precinct.

We hope to transfer learning from the visit to the renovation of St Joseph’s school - ‘history in the making’, and how we can preserve our taonga going into the future.

Rippa Rugby Tournament
We will be entering two teams in the North Otago Primary Schools Rippa Rugby tournament on Friday 19th March.  There will be one Year 3/4 team and one Year 5/6 team. Thank you to the parents who have kindly offered to coach and transport the children to and from school. A notice will be sent home with the students involved in this tournament.

Scholastic Book Club
All orders are due in by Wednesday 17th March.

School Hours
A reminder that children are not allowed on the school grounds until 8.30 am as there is no supervision for the children at that time as teachers use this time to prepare for school. The Before School Care and bus children are the only children allowed on the grounds at this time.

Swimming Sports
The children can be very proud of themselves after their swimming sports on Tuesday as 95% of them either swam in the championship, non championship or demonstration races.  It was really pleasing to see them all give it a go and with great support for one another. As always thanks goes to our wonderful parent helpers who volunteer their time to help support our school.  A pair of goggles has been found after the sports.  Please go to the office if you have lost your goggles.

Trophies and certificates will be presented at assembly on Friday 26th March because next Friday, some children are away at a tournament.

North Otago Swimming Sports - congratulations to the children who have qualified for these sports on Wednesday 24th March.  Children have been notified and permission slips are due back by tomorrow.

Otago Primary School Swimming Sports - these children have been notified for their qualification in these sports.  Please let Mrs Brien know if your child is going or not going to these sports.

Subway Coordinator
We are needing a new Subway lunch volunteer as the lovely Jessica is stepping down as she is going to have a baby soon.  The coordinator will collate all the subway orders, write the children's names and  their orders, tally the money and drop the orders off to Subway each Friday.  The time will be from 8.30ish to 9.15-9.30 am depending on how many orders there are.   If you are interested in volunteering your time for up to an hour every Friday morning, please contact the office.  Jessica will be able to show you what the job involves.

Technology
Starts this Friday for Yr 7 & 8 students at St Kevin's College.  Please note the start time is 8.50 and not 9.00 am.

Touch Rugby
The children were delighted to be back playing touch after some teams were unable to play because of Covid Level 2.  The weather gods were kind to us on this day and families came out to support teams.

Winter Sports
All enrolment forms should have been returned to the office this week.  Lists of teams and coaches will be put on the notice board in the next couple of days.  If you have forgotten to enrol your child, a paper copy of the form is available from the office.
