Miniball
Last Tuesday, I went and watched our two school miniball teams play in their last game of the miniball competition at the Rec Centre and I was very impressed with how much both teams had improved throughout the season.  Players who were timid to touch the ball at the start of the season were now involved in the game and the other players had improved in all aspects of their game. Both teams showed great sportsmanship towards their own teammates and to the opposing teams.
Special thanks go to Victoria Forrest, Toby Lucas and Adele Whiston for coaching and managing these teams.

Recyle Unwanted Toys
The Warehouse wants to recycle unwanted toys for a limited time.  Unsure what to do with your old or broken toys that are unfit to rehome?  From 26th July, you can drop them off at The Warehouse and they will then send them to Terra Cycle for recycling.

Items accepted for recycling are:
- all toy brands
- plastic toys
- metal toys
- soft toys
- electronic toys with batteries removed
- broken toys

These toys are excluded:
- books
- board games
- wooden toys
- play-doh, slime and paint
- pens, pencils, crayons, paintbrushes
- oversized toys e.g. bikes, scooters, skateboards and soccer goals

Red, Black and White Mufti Day
On Friday 29th July (the first Friday of term 3), we are holding a mufti day to help support the building of the Blair Vinings charity hospital.  Students are asked to dress in mufti wearing red, black and white clothing and to bring a gold coin donation on the day.  The donation is to be given to your child's teacher.  Children who have ordered ribbons should hopefully receive them in the first week of the term.
Southland man Blair Vining was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in 2018 and given just weeks to live. He sought treatment privately after being told there would be an eight to ten-week wait through the public health system- a wait he would not have survived.

Parent Election Notices
If you are interested in being a parent rep on our School Board of Trustees, please send your nominati form to the office before noon on 3rd August 2022.

Just six months after Blair Vining announced his ambitious plan, the Southland Charity Hospital officially has a home. The Southland Charity Hospital Trust will move into the Clifton Tavern after the tavern was donated by the Invercargill Licensing Trust to the cause. The hospital will provide colonoscopies to patients who aren't being covered by the Southern District Health Board.

It was the dying dream of advocate Vining who actively campaigned for better cancer care for New Zealanders during his final months.

St Kevin's College Enrolments
A reminder for any Yr 8 families who have not yet completed their enrolment form for St Kevin's to hand it back to the office at the beginning of term 3 as their enrolment spots are quickly filling up.

Winter sports fees
All sports fees need to be paid by the beginning of term 3.  If you need assistance with these, please see Mrs Frances-Rees.
