1. Principal News Week 7 Term 2

Confirmation Congratulations
We thank Bishop Colin Campbell, Fr Wayne Healey, Mrs Ann Dooley, Mrs Adrienne Wylie and all prayer partners and family members who played an important role in contributing to this special occasion on Sunday. Congratulations to all of the children who received the sacrament of Confirmation and confirmed their baptismal vows as they continue to have the courage to grow in their faith strengthened by the support of the Holy Spirit. We look forward to all of them being active young apostles in our Catholic church.
Special thanks also go to Mrs Leanne Brookes, Mr Paul Cartlidge and the Dominican Choir as well as Mrs Tracy Plieger and Mrs Adrienne Spillane who coordinated the Parish morning tea after mass.

Film Makers in Schools Project 2015
We were recently invited to participate in a local film making project led by Bridget Ellis and Maddie Maxwell and sponsored by Creative Communities funding. A group of children from Year 5-8 expressed interest and were chosen to participate. They have begun the first two of five sessions with Maddie and Bridget learning to devise, film and edit a five minute video. The video will be entered in the 2015 North Otago film festival at the end of Term 3. This is an excellent enrichment opportunity for our learners and we look forward to sharing the finished product with you.

Catholic Convention
Next week our DRS (Directors of Religious Education) team, Mrs Ann Dooley, Mrs Siobhan Burke, Fr Wayne and I will attend the Catholic Education Convention in Wellington from Wednesday to Friday. This year Mrs Frances- Rees and I will be presenting a seminar based on Authentic Catholic Leadership. I have met up with Mrs Frances- Rees a couple of times to prepare our presentation and she is loving her new principal role at St Joseph's in Pleasant Point. We will be proudly sharing some of the learning and developments that have happened here during the past few years with participants from across New Zealand.
Mr Paul Cartlidge will be Acting Principal while I am away. There will be no Thursday school mass with Fr Wayne away at the convention next week.
We look forward to sharing our learning with all of you as we continue to Reach for the Stars as Lifelong Learners in the Catholic Faith.
