SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT
This Sunday is the second Sunday of Advent. In Advent we are preparing for the coming of Jesus, both remembering His arrival in the world as a human baby, and looking forward to His coming again as the Bible promises us He will.
The lighting of the second candle on the Advent wreath is a symbol of love. Its sometimes called the Bethlehem candle - it reminds us that "God loved us so much that he sent his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life" (John 3:16).
WHAT IS THE CHRISTMAS STORY?
I have found over the last few days, talking to children and teachers throughout the school, that many of our children do not know the nativity story - the story of Jesus' birth. For some of our students, even older ones, the first time they have heard the story of Jesus' birth, and associated this with our Christmas celebrations, is at our school.
Please share the nativity (birth) story with your children - there are many AMAZING picture books which tell the story of the first Christmas. The library will lend them out. Please share and discuss this story with your children. The site embedded below has a good telling of the story that you could share as a family.
