The sixth commandment requires husbands and wives to keep the promise they made to each other and be faithful to their word. When a couple marry, they promise to love and honour each other for the rest of their lives. Specifically the sixth commandment forbids married people from seeking out relationships outside their marriage. The sixth commandment teaches us to treat marriage with the dignity and respect it deserves and to avoid using our bodies and the bodies of others as objects.
