1. Principal's News Week 6 Term 3 2019

National Young Leader's Day
Our year 8s were treated to a day of inspirational speakers, music and movement last Friday at the National Young Leader's Day in Dunedin.
They considered how:
to nurture their own mental health and wellbeing
to be a leader first of all to themselves and then to others
to believe in themselves
to be listeners to the things that matter,
to be learners and to engage in conversation.

Junior Quadrangular
Well done to our intermediate teams who competed under St Kevin's banner at the Catholic schools' junior quadrangular tournament in Dunedin on Wednesday.

Dominican Choir
Thank you to the year 7 & 8s in  our Dominican Choir who performed the National Anthem at the citizenship ceremony at the town hall this week.

Teachers' News
On top of our normal weekly professional development session, teachers have been hard out this week with a group of teachers attending an evening with other schools and early childhood centres at Little Wonders.  The focus of the evening was smooth transitions into primary school.  We've also had staff participating in two workshops for our kahui ako on the digital technology curriculum.

Painting Work
Next week we have painters in the school as part of our scheduled maintenance plan.  They are accustomed to working in schools and are all police vetted.  The affected areas will be:
- the windows and woodwork on the junior verandah,
- the hall windows,
- washdown of other buildings,
- some interior touch ups, including the library

Please be aware when you are picking up and dropping off children and note that the junior verandah will be off limits for a few days.

God bless and aroha,
