Molly Whittaker
Congratulations to Molly Whittaker who received the Sir Peter Blake Trust Young Leaders Award at assembly last term. Sir Peter Blake believed in the incredible potential of young kiwis to achieve great things. He knew that by inspiring leaders of any age could be found in every corner of New Zealand. Sir Peter showed all of us there are leaders and there are dreamers. Leaders make things happen and Dreamers have a vision. The truly special people do both. In that spirit and in partnership with Westpac, this award is offered each year to a Year 5-8 student in every NZ primary and intermediate school during Leadership Week.
Molly received this award for her exceptional leadership, using her initiative, working well and communicating with her peers and teachers and not being afraid of a hard task and getting stuck in and all with a great attitude. Molly received a pair of 'lucky red socks', a medal, badge and certificate from Colleen Newberry from Westpac.
Molly also entered an Otago Museum Capture Science photography competition which was open to anyone in Otago including adults. She won the inaugural spot prize for her picture of a rusty chain and the judges were very impressed that no-one had taken a photo like this before.
