3. School Notices - Week 1, Term 4 2023

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK

Birthday Greetings to:
Kingston F, Ellah J, Liam L and Siale T

Athletics
Our children will start practising for their school athletics

Our school athletics will be combined with Te Pakihi o Maru school this year on Tuesday 7th November and the postponement date on Thursday 9th November.

Children who are aged 5,6 and 7 years are spending the day at Te Pakihi o Maru school where they get to experience lots of different and interesting sporting activities.

The children from both schools who are aged 8 years from the 1st October will compete in 6 different athletic rotations on the day starting at 9.30 am and finishing at 3.00 pm.

Helpers - we would love for anyone to come and help us on the day at either school and if you are available, please let the office know so we can plan ahead.. If there are older siblings who wish to help out, we would love to have them.

Whanau and friends are welcome to go between the two schools to watch your children.  Further information about the day will come out later.

First Communion Parent Meeting
This meeting is for the parents whose children are receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist this year.  It will be held on Tuesday 17th October at 7.00 pm in the staffroom.

Pie and Milo
A reminder that the Wednesday pie and milo finished at the end of term 3 as it is a winter month initiative.

School Camp for Yr 6
We wish our yr 6 children all the best as they attend an overnight camp at IONA on Thursday 26th October.

Summer Sports
Futsal
If anyone wishes to play Futsal (indoor football), there are still spaces available for all teams.  For teams to play Futsal, a parent has to be with each team each week.  Please contact Mrs Misiloi if your child is interested in playing or if you can manage a team.  If we cannot get any parents to manage, a parent roster system will be set up for each team.

Community Notices
  • Kids Costume Party - On the 31st of October, the Reach Church will be hosting a Kid's Costume Party for children ages 5-12 in our auditorium, from 5-7pm. We intend to provide snacks, and a fun evening of games, dancing, and prizes. This event is free to all children in the community. Come dressed in a costume (no scary ones).  Please RSVP to 03 437 2666 by 27th October.

Our intention behind this event is to provide a safe, fun alternative for the children on the evening of Halloween. We are a "safer" church meaning that our children's group supervisors are police vetted, and we will have many volunteers in the evening to help ensure a fun, safe time for the kids. We will also have a representative from the fire brigade stepping in as our safety supervisor/medic for the evening. Parents are encouraged to reach out if they have any concerns or questions.

  • Geopark Festival - We are thrilled to share with you the programme for the upcoming Geopark Festival, taking place from 27th to 29th October 2023. It promises to be a weekend filled with inspiration and exploration. From guided tours to culinary delights made from local produce, from science-based educational activities to wetland tours, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

The Geopark Festival also has lots have family-friendly and educational events on offer. We would appreciate it if you would share this with your families and mailing list!

The full programme is attached, and further information can be found on our website

    Thank you!
