1. Principal's News - Week 1, Term 4 2023

 Dear Parents and Whanau

Welcome back to term 4 for a term that is very full and we will see the end of year rush up before we know it.  I have settled back in after my time away and look forward to my final term with you.

I was very pleased that the Board was able to make an appointment for your permanent principal. I will be working with Sara (Jones-Hogan) for a smooth transition for 2024 throughout the term.

A reminder that this is a 'hats' term and all children need a brimmer hat to be outside for break times and PE.

Thank you for being so understanding about the school photos on the first day of term.  This was far from ideal timing.  We had arranged photos later in the week but the photographer had double booked themselves.  We will send out further information about ordering the photos when they have processed our order.

On Wednesday, the children had an excellent session of cricket with Cricket Otago.  The sessions were high-energy and really engaging for the children.

Athletics is our main sport focus at present with practice for the senior students.  Our athletics day for both juniors and seniors is on Tuesday 7th November with a postponement day on Thursday 9th November.

We had a very successful Book Fair on the last week of the term.  I would like to thank Sarah Sollano for all her organisation and hard work.  We receive a significant number of books for our school library through your support at the Book Fair.  Thank you to all of you who supported this event.

Our Board of Trustees has two members.  We welcome Justine Rogers (Theo Mestrom's mum) as our new parent representative and Nicola Winders as our new staff representative.  We will meet on Tuesday 24th October which is an open meeting and you are welcome at any time.

A reminder that school will be closed on Monday 23rd October for Labour Weekend.

Go the 'All Blacks' this weekend and I encourage you to get out and vote to support our democratic process.

God Bless
Allan Mitchell
Acting Principal
