Assembly
Everyone is welcome to attend assembly every Friday at 2.30 pm in the hall.

Cricket
There are two new cricketing programmes coming up in term 1.  This is for children in year levels 3-8 where they play cricket games and everyone bowls one over each and bat two overs in pairs.  With the Girls Smash programme, they get a pink top with the $10.00 fee.

Superstar Cricket - starts on Monday 22nd February to Monday 22nd March at 4.00 pm at Centennial Park. Get 6 of your mates along and join the fun or come by yourself.  Register by using the link https://registrations.crichq.com/register/281413

Girls Smash - competition for girls in Yrs 3-8.  No experience necessary.  Teams are 6 aside but individual girls are welcome.  Starts Monday 22nd February to Monday 22 March at 3.30 pm at Centennial Park.  Costs $10.00 for 5 sessions.  Register by using the link https://registrations.crichq.com/register/281411

Forms
There are still a few outstanding forms which need to be returned to the school office.  These were posted out before school started and were due back on Tuesday.  Please ensure they are returned to the school office.

Hungry Horse
Thanks to everyone who helped out yesterday at the cafe for the first race meet this year. The remaining dates for the 2020/2021 calendar are:
-  Sunday 28th February
-  Wednesday 10th March
-  Sunday 28th March

The 2021/2022 calendar dates will be notified after March.

Swimming
The next lot of lessons start on Tuesday and again on Thursday for next week.  Please remember to bring your togs, towels, goggles and to wear your PE gear on swim days.

Subway
Lunches start up again NEXT Friday.  Lunch envelopes area available from the office.  Costs $6.00 for 6 inch and $9.00 for a footlong.

Touch
Thank you to everyone who returned their permission slips and to the parents who answered my emergency call for extra coaches. We now have enough coaches for all of our teams which is fantastic.
We will enter the following teams in these grades.

Yr 1/2/3 mixed grade - x 2 teams
Yr 4/5/6 boys grade - x 1 team
Yr 4/5/6 mixed grade - x 2 teams
Yr 7/8 mixed grade - x 1 team

A notice will come home next week with the team lists and information.  Thanks again to our wonderful parents/siblings who have offered to help coach teams.

Weston Out of Hours Art and Music Classes
These classes are open to all North Otago children aged 8.12 years hosted by Weston School.  Music classes include: saxophone, clarinet, guitar, drums, chanter/bagpipes and recorder.  There are also Art classes.  For information and enrolment, email jkitchin@weston.school.nz or phone the Weston School office on 434 5445.

Community Notices
  • Oamaru Farmers Market - every Sunday from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm at the Harbour area.  This Sunday is Valentines Day and there will be flowers on sale at the market along with valentine treats from the different stalls.
  • Five Forks School Trail Ride - held on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th March at Balruddery Road, Five Forks from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.  See attached flyer for further information.

  • The Network Waitaki 2020 Sports Awards are nearly upon us. 
    This is an awesome event celebrating the success of our local athletes. 

    The Awards Dinner will be held on 
    Monday 29th March 2020 
    6.15pm - Meet & Greet 
    7pm - Awards commence 
    Waitaki Community Recreation Centre. 
    This Year we have also incorporated the Waitaki Hall of Fame and we will be announcing 3 new inductees. 

    The Guest Speaker for the event is:  
    Eddie Dawkins - Multiple world champion and Olympian track cyclist who is now chasing the dream of representing NZ at both the summer and winter Olympics in Bobsleigh.
