Hungry Horse Cafe
The Hungry Horse Café runs several times a year preparing and selling the food at Oamaru Race-course meetings. We would love for every parent to do one shift in this café during the course of the year and you are more than welcome to bring a friend.
This fundraiser is worth $10,000 annually to the Home and School and with every family helping makes it a worthwhile fundraiser. They need help for the next 3 cafe dates because if they do not get enough people, the Home and School will have to get people from outside of the school and then pay them from our profits. If this is the case, it will not be worth doing this cafe fundraiser and they will go back to raffles and a fundraiser each term.
The dates of the next 3 meetings are:
- Sunday 20th September
- Sunday 18th October
- Saturday 21st November
Volunteers needed for Sunday 20th September
9.30 to 11.00 am - need 3 people
12.00 to 3.00 pm - need 4 people
3.00 to 5.30 pm - need 4 people
Next year the race meetings are on Wednesday 10th February, Sunday 28th February, Tuesday 2nd March, Wednesday 10th March and Sunday 28th March. Please note there are week day race meetings and they need as much help as possible. There is only 8-10 race meetings a year in which they are required to work the cafe.
Please let Rebecca Heffernan know what session and what date you can do by phoning 027 432 4056 or email
heffholdings@xtra.co.nz thank you.
Junior swimming lessons
The junior school children in years 1-3 did not complete their 6 swimming lessons in term 1 due to Covid 19 and are entitled to two more lessons. These are booked in for Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th September (week 10) at 1.15 pm and 1.45 pm.
If your child is currently having swimming lessons at the Waitaki Aquatic Centre and has moved from the small pool to the big pool, please let us know.
We are asking for parents to help walk the children to and from the pool on both days and if you can help, please let Mrs Brien know asap. At this stage we only have one parent offer to help.
Sports Draw
Netball - Saturday 5th September
9.00 am - St Joseph's Gold v OIS Pulse on court 6 - LJ Hooker
St Joseph's Rebels have the bye
Basketball and Miniball
If your family is down to do score bench duty, you must ensure you do it or organise someone else to do
it for you. Last night one of our teams failed to do score bench duty or organise someone else to do it
and because of this the team lost their competition points as they had won their game. All the
competition points goes towards trophies at the end of the season and all games are tightly contested so
to lose these points in this manner is a shame.
The draw for both both miniball and basketball will be emailed out tomorrow.
Touch Rugby
The season starts on the first Tuesday in term 4 (Tuesday 13th October) and North Otago Junior Touch
would like to get as many games as possible in this term due to the short season in term 1.
North Otago Touch Rep trials are being held on Sunday 20th September at 3.00 pm at Centennial Park.
Age groups are boys/girls for U12, U14 and U16.
The teams are the same as the first term and if anyone wishes to enter or pull out of a team, please let
Mrs Brien know.
