Athletics
Pre-Athletics Day Notice for both Seniors and Juniors 2019

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Our combined school athletics with Oamaru North School is on Tuesday 12th November at Whitestone Contracting Stadium/Centennial Park (same venue as last year).
With a lot happening in the next 3 weeks with Food Fair, Camps, Book Fair etc. I am getting in early to ask for volunteers and to mark the date on your diary.

Due to the number of children involved, we require a large number of parents/caregivers/grandparents/older siblings who can help us on the day and to help pack the equipment away at the end of the day. If you can help with either a half day or full day it would be appreciated and if you hold a current First Aid Certificate, please let me know.

The day will start at 9.00 am and the children will need to be at the grounds by 8.50 am.  The junior rotations should be finished by approximately 1.45 pm and the senior rotations finished by 2.45 pm. The junior athletics are for children aged 5-7 years and they will run in their house groups and the senior athletics are from 8-13 years as of 1st October 2019 and they will run in their age groups.

Please let me know if you can help by either emailing sport@stjoseph.school.nz or contacting me in the office.

Further information regarding this day will come out in 2 weeks time.
Thanks Paula Brien, Sports Coordinator

Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair - Dino-Mite - will be running from Tuesday 29th October to Friday 1st November in our school hall.  The Book Fair works to benefit our school - every book you purchase earns the school points which we can use to purchase literacy resources for our children.
Last term your child had been given a Book Fair pamphlet - this has a very small selection of books that will be available at the fair.  Please come and check out the huge range during our Book Fair week.
The Book Fair will be open from 8.40 to 9.10 am and 2.45 to 3.15 pm each day.  To make this possible, we need at least 2 volunteers to be looking after the Book Fair at these times.  If you are able to do this, please let Mrs McRae or the office know asap.
We will finish our Book Fair celebration with a book character dress up day on Friday 1st November.

Cricket

Is there anyone else wishing to play cricket for this term and are there any other girls wishing to play in a girls team?  Please let me know by Monday next week.

Pies and Milo
There will be no pies and milo in term 4 as we usually have this hot lunch available in the colder months of terms 2 and 3.

Scholastic Book Club
Orders to be in the office by Wednesday 23rd October.

School Photos
On Tuesday we had our school photos taken and the ordering system is using a new format.  In a couple of weeks time, each child will receive a Child's Photo Shoot Keycode  which is used to view your child's photos at www.photolife.co.nz  Nobody else will be able to view your child's photo as the keycode is unique to your child's photo. There is a period of approximately 3 weeks from the date the Photo Shoot Keycodes are dispatched to the school for you to order your photos and get them delivered free of postage and packing.  If you order them after the expiry date, a $6.00 postage and packing charge is automatically applied.
Further information will be available once the Photo Shoot Keycodes are delivered to our school.

St Kevin's College Orientation Day
All Yr 8 students who will be attending St Kevin's next year are to go to an Orientation Day on Thursday 28th November for the whole day.  Please wear mufti and bring a packed lunch and pen.

Touch Rugby
There have been some changes to teams since last week as some children have pulled out and others have wanted to play. I have also made another team in the Yr 1/2/3 grade as we had 14 players for one team.  New children playing touch will be charged $10 for touch rugby fees.
We will be on duty next week for touch and any teams who are playing at 4.00 pm will be asked to come at 3.30 pm to help set up. (It should only take 10 minutes if there are a few families/children to help)
Coaches - please come and get your get bags on Monday.
