Dear Justin

Following the Pompallier Trophy Tournament held on Sunday 22nd May 2016, the Timaru Celtic JAB would like to thank the St Joseph’s School rugby teams, coaches and families for travelling to Timaru and taking part in a worthwhile and enjoyable tournament.

We feel we hosted a very successful tournament here in Timaru, despite the weather conditions earlier in the morning.  We look forward to winning some trophies back in 2017!

Regards

MAURICE SCANLAN

Maurice Scanlan has been affiliated with and contributed to Marist rugby since the mid 1940’s, and in the latter years of his retirement, continued his heavy involvement with Marist Albion.  All who knew him knew the love and passion he had for the game, and how many tireless hours he gave to Marist and Marist Albion from junior to senior, for so many years.
His effort was recognised by the wider NZ rugby community when he was made a finalist of the Steinlager Rugby Awards ‘Charles Munro Rugby Volunteer of the Year’ only a few years ago.

He will be remembered for his hard working attitude, humour and passion to develop rugby at all levels of the game.  As a former President of the NZ Marist Rugby Federation, Maurice was responsible for establishing the NZ Marist Pompallier Trophy Tournament:  a competition which our junior teams still compete in and enjoy to this very day.
