Everyone is welcome to join us as we support the children making their Confirmation on Sunday. Special thanks to Mrs Dooley who has been preparing the children. We look forward to welcoming Bishop Colin Campbell to our school tomorrow.
Student Blogger Subway Award of the Week
Each week I will be reading our senior students' blogs and will choose one to share with you. The student will be presented with a Subway complimentary voucher.
This week's special award goes to Jack Cameron. You can access Jack's blog at this link. I particularly like his eye catching Anzac art and reasons for the colours he chose.
Every year our Year 8 class travel to Dunedin for National Young Leader's Day. Special thanks to the Waitaki Network who sponsor $1000 towards the cost for our students to attend. Mr Cartlidge and our headstudents will attend an afternoon tea presentation and be able to thank Network Waitaki on our behalf. You can see photos from the day on the Year 8 student blogs http://year8stjosephs2015.blogspot.co.nz/ The Year 8's were fortunate to have Olympic Ambassador and rowing champ Nicola Coles present them with their NYLD certificates. Thanks Mrs Brien for preparing the certificates with your beautiful calligraphy.
Peered Writing
Please join us from 6:30 to 7:30 for the Family Learning Hui and learn all about how we are improving our students' writing with the Peered Writing approach. This was one of our curriculum targets for 2016.
LJ Hooker donation
We are grateful for a generous donation from LJ Hooker of $240 as a result of sales in the area. Thanks to LJ Hooker and Debbie Jansen who presented this cheque to our school at assembly on Friday.
Nicola Coles
All of us were inspired by Nicola's presentation during her visit to our school this week. You can view a short video below. Ask your children if they have plans to be an Olympic rower in the future.
Thanks to Miss Tangney for organising this visit and to Nicola for showing us how to aim high and Reach for the Stars as Lifelong Long Learners in the Catholic Faith.
