The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is a biblical term that sums up nine attributes of a Christian life according to Paul in his Letter to the Galatians: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Leading up to Confirmation all Year 4 children have been looking at how we can use the 'Fruit of The Spirit' and how they can make a big difference to the way we live our daily lives and our relationships with others. |
On Tuesday 31st May we had our first lesson in preparation to receive the 'Sacrament of Confirmation'. We discussed the Sacraments we have already received (Baptism and Reconciliation) and that receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation is the next step in our 'Journey of Faith'. Confirmation renews and strengthens our baptismal call. In Confirmation we are strengthened with the gifts of the Spirit which enable us to live our Christian life. We will also have lessons on Thursday 2nd and Tuesday 7th June with a practice with Bishop Colin on Friday (usually after lunch).
The children have brought home some worksheets to do. They are focussed on four themes: Naming and Call, Promises, Hands and Oil.
I also sent home a newsletter with details of what happens at the Confirmation Mass on Sunday 12th June.
Please sent along the information card with your child's details on. This is needed by Father Wayne.
Any questions please call in and see me or email me/ adooley@stjoseph.school.nz.
Take care and God Bless
