We welcome Mrs Julie Moore to our school. Julie is a very experienced teacher and is supporting learning in Junior Hub 1 and doing teacher release throughout the school.
Singing Cup Auditions
I was delighted to be part of the auditions for the annual Singing Cup on Tuesday. The children who practiced and presented their songs are to be congratulated. A particular shout out for the Yr 8 students for their wonderful support of their class mates. We look forward to the final.
Children who were absent from the auditions on Tuesday will have their auditions tomorrow at lunch time and the finalists will be notified at 3.00 pm. Thank you to the children who auditioned and to Mrs Gunn who enjoyed her experience and will be back for the finals on Tuesday 20th September at 9.00 am.
Kids for Kids
Well done again to the choir children who took part in the 'Kids for Kids' concert with singer Jacqui Clarke last night. I was lucky enough to attend the morning rehearsal and the children sounded amazing. The 'Kids for Kids' concert is a charity fundraiser for World Vision Sponsorship for children. St Joseph's sang with children from Oamaru Intermediate, Oamaru North, Totara, Fenwick and Papakaio and each child received a World Vision bracelet and certificate. Thank you to Mrs Brookes and the parents for your support.
Reminder - School Closure
Please remember that next Thursday 8th September, school does not begin until 11.00 am to allow
staff to attend a combined union meeting from 9.00 to 11.00 am. All schools are affected by this union meeting. Could you please let the office know if you are unable to supervise your children at home. There will be a skeleton staff available for supervision only.
Please note that the country and town buses will be running two and a half hours later (150 minutes) in the morning so if you get picked up at 7.35 am in the morning, it will be 10.05 am for that day only. If you have any concerns about the bus timetable for that morning, please ring Ritchies on 434 7964. The 3 secondary schools are starting at 11.20 am and most of the primary schools are starting at 11.00 am.
