ERO Powhiri
Thank you to Mrs Klenner who helped us prepare for our powhiri to greet the Education Review Office. You helped us make sure we got things right and followed correct protocol as far as possible. Its been a big week with a great start to it.
Last night the ERO team shared their "emerging findings" with our board of trustees. The findings are positive and reflect who we are. The next steps are steps we've already identified in our annual plan and so we feel very positive that what we're doing is good and we're moving in the right direction.
Communion of Saints
This year we have started our learning in RE with the Communion of Saints strand. We normally do this around November time as that's when we remember All Saints and All Souls. However we chose to start the year with Communion of Saints this year as our theme for the year is "Being a Eucharistic Community." Our first term has a Social Sciences focus looking at manaakitanga (welcoming) and turangawaewae (belonging).
One of the things the children learn is about "choices" - that the choices you make affect the sort of person you become. It would be great if you could have some conversations at home about what the children are learning in RE through looking at our key ideas for parents.
