Lip Balm
If your child needs to bring lip balm to school for dry lips, please ensure it is the clear lip balm and not the coloured ones.
Scholastic Book Club
Book club forms have been given to the children today and orders are due by Friday 5th June.
School Social Distancing
We are still abiding by the Covid 19 Level 2 guidelines at school which means the children still enter school through the main entrance and go to their classrooms via the veranda's. Parents have to sign in if they enter the school building to drop children off and go to the office if it is after 9.00 am. Parents are not allowed to go to a child's classroom and if they need to drop off something for their children, it can be dropped off at the office.
At the 3.00 pm bell, parents wait outside the gates and junior school children can exit via the junior school gates.
Subway
Reminder there is no Subway lunches tomorrow.
Vision and Hearing Screening Programme
The Vision and Hearing national screening programmes have been disrupted by the NZ Covid-19 restrictions. The services that have been halted at level 4 are:
- All Before School Care vision and hearing check of 4 year olds
- All vision and hearing checks of new entrants at primary school who missed their B4SC
- All vision screening of Yr 7 children
At level 2 they are able to resume screening on a 'by appointment basis' with Covid triage and contact tracing measures in place so they will not be coming to schools or pre-schools. They are trying to clear the backlog so if you have missed an appointment, please note your child's appointment will be followed up sometime later in the year.
Waitaki District Library
During this phase of Level 2, the library will be open from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm each day from Monday to Friday at this stage. This means the library is unavailable for students to wait for their parents after school.
Wheels Day
Last Friday there was lots of action on both courts as children were either roller skating, scootering or biking, racing one another and trying to keep out of each other's way. Tomorrow sees the fast and furious (bikes and fast scooters) stay on the basketball courts and the roller skates and slower wheels segregate to the junior school area so this keeps everyone safe and happy.
Please remember if there is no helmet, the children cannot go on their wheels.
Winter Sports
During this week and next, all sport codes will make decisions on this years season in regards to start and finish dates, Covid 19 health guidelines and the number of people allowed on a field/court etc. The season's fees will also be discussed and we will let you know any changes.
Most of our sport teams have stayed the same minus a couple of players here and there. We cannot field teams in the girls miniball team and our 5 & 6 year old rugby team due to low numbers.
Information regarding teams, coaches, practices etc. will be sent out for all codes after next week's meetings.
Netball and rugby use the website 'Sporty' for entering players details and registrations. Our school will enter our school team's players names on your behalf.
