1. Principals News - Term 3, Week 4, 2017

Its been a great week for St Joseph's.

Kapa Haka
A big congratulations to our years 3, 4 and 6 classes who performed so well at the Opera House on Tuesday and to their teachers Miss Day, Miss Mulholland and Miss Lind who prepared them.

Speech Competition
Every child in the school has prepared poems, speeches or Gospel readings for our school speech presentation.  Presentations were shared yesterday and the standard was very high.

Singing Cup
House choirs are now practising for our annual Singing Cup which will be held at St Kevin’s auditorium at 6.00 pm on Wednesday 20th September.   First auditions are being held next Wednesday 23rd August.  If your child is in year 5 to 8 please encourage them to audition.  Every year we discover some new talent through Singing Cup.

Winter Sports

Netball - Congratulations to our year 5 and intermediate netball teams who won their divisions on the weekend. Our intermediate team last won the premier final in 2011!! And our Yr 6/7 team received the 'Fair Play' trophy which is awarded to only one team in junior netball.

Hockey
Congratulations to our Turbo Sticks hockey team (who were combined with Glenavy and Waitaki Valley) who came first in their competition.  The St Joseph's players were Kristiana Whiston, Jacob Robinson and Lily Wickham (who had an injury during the season).  Well done to Kristiana who got the 'Most Improved' for the team.

First Communion
Fourteen of our children will receive First Communion with children from the Papakaio community next Sunday at 9.30 am mass.  All children and families are encouraged to join the school and parish for this celebration.
