Ngā Kōhatu Touchstones
You may see touchstones around our school. What are Touch stones? Touch stones can ground us and connect us, they are precious; they were used in European culture to help judge a true measure.
Touchstones are to emphasise an aspect of your child's journey through school life. Each touchstone has a nuance of distinction from other year levels and a sense of progression. In the course of up to 13 years of education in Catholic schools, young people will spend time with each touchstone on this Gospel-based journey.
Years 1 and 2 Whakatau Welcomed
Jesus was welcomed at Bethlehem by whānau, shepherds, angels and wise men. He and his family also experienced the pain of not being welcomed.
To think about I am welcomed I have welcomed others
Pope John XXIII, changed the culture in the Vatican. He visited the sick, the poor, and prisoners. He was a father figure for the world, described as a man with a wonderful sense of humour, being open-hearted, loving, caring, even funny at times. Pope John XXlll is remembered as “Il Papa Buono,” the Good Pope, an ‘authentic image of the Good Shepherd.
Pope Francis approved John XXIII for canonization (being named a Saint) on June 3, 2013, the 50th anniversary of his death
