Coming up, we will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation with our Sacramental students and the senior school on November 2nd after the Thursday school Mass and following that our Sacramental students will receive 1st Holy Communion on Sunday 5th November.

Ngā Kōhatu Touchstones
Year 5 and 6 Oho Ake Inspired
Jesus inspired those who followed him. From the beginning of his earthly ministry, his words and actions showed people that there was a better way to live, love and believe.
To think about I am inspired I have inspired others
Labour Day
Labour Day commemorates the struggle for an eight-hour working day. New Zealand workers were among the first in the world to claim this right when, in 1840, the carpenter Samuel Parnell won an eight-hour day in Wellington. Labour Day was first celebrated in New Zealand on 28 October 1890.
Let us pray
Loving God, you guide the hands of all who labour, as they work to build, create, and produce. Thank you for the gift of strong bodies and astute minds that allow them to accomplish so many great things. Give them assurance of a good income and provide for them all the resources, strength, and support that they need. Gracious God, you bless all in so many different ways. Shower all of your children, as they labour, with your blessing and love. Amen

- As in previous years, these teams do not need a coach, only an adult who can look after the team on the day and manage substitutions.
- Shin pads are recommended during games.
- 8 players per team recommended – we’d like to keep teams at 8 players maximum, so each player is guaranteed a good amount of game time.
- All teams MUST be accompanied by a team manager/coordinator and not left to their own to organise or to make subs etc.
- School sports uniforms are to be worn please. (we will have bibs if colours clash)
- Draw for each week will be emailed to team managers – we will also email it and post on Football Waitaki Facebook page
- Sometimes there will be changes that need to be made to the draw, these will be done by 12pm at the latest on the Friday before games so please advise managers of the updated draw then.
- Games are 13-minute halves
- Please make sure that your teams vacate the court as quick as possible after their game to make sure the next round of games does not start later.
- We are making an effort to have referees for all the games. If by any chance your games do not have a referee, please make sure they start on time and we will try to get you a referee as soon as we can.
- For anyone interested in learning the basics of FUTSAL REFEREEING, we are hosting a 1h online workshop this Thursday at 6:00pm. We will send you email you the link to join tomorrow.

Ngā Kōhatu Touchstones
You may see touchstones around our school. What are Touch stones? Touch stones can ground us and connect us, they are precious; they were used in European culture to help judge a true measure.
Touchstones are to emphasise an aspect of your child's journey through school life. Each touchstone has a nuance of distinction from other year levels and a sense of progression. In the course of up to 13 years of education in Catholic schools, young people will spend time with each touchstone on this Gospel-based journey.
Years 1 and 2 Whakatau Welcomed
Jesus was welcomed at Bethlehem by whānau, shepherds, angels and wise men. He and his family also experienced the pain of not being welcomed.
To think about I am welcomed I have welcomed others
Pope John XXIII, changed the culture in the Vatican. He visited the sick, the poor, and prisoners. He was a father figure for the world, described as a man with a wonderful sense of humour, being open-hearted, loving, caring, even funny at times. Pope John XXlll is remembered as “Il Papa Buono,” the Good Pope, an ‘authentic image of the Good Shepherd.
Pope Francis approved John XXIII for canonization (being named a Saint) on June 3, 2013, the 50th anniversary of his death
