Burns 50th Memorial Art Competition
This year our school has entered artwork in the annual art competition at the Forrester Gallery,  The exhibition will be available to view from Saturday 12th September to Sunday 18th October.

The Burns Memorial Art Exhibition began in 1970 and is named after Mr George Burns (1903 to 1970).  Mr Burns was born and educated in Oamaru.  He went on to become the editor of the Christchurch Star-Sun in 1945.  While editor, he founded Star, a secondary schools art exhibition, which ran across the South Island.  He was passionate about the importance of art in life but especially for young people.

Congratulations
Recently the Giant Leaps Speech Company held a Speech and Drama competition for their students in which Cooper van Rooy was a successful competitor.  He was awarded 1st place in the Prepared Speech Section.  Congratulations Cooper.

Cross Country Trophy and Certificate presentation
As it is Tongan Language Week and there is a Tongan presentation at assembly tomorrow we have had to postpone the presentation of the cross country awards until next Friday 18th September at assembly at 2.15 pm.  Hopefully we will be in Level 1 by then and parents will be able to attend otherwise it will be live streamed.

Hungry Horse Cafe
Earlier this week a letter was sent out to all families requesting help at the Hungry Horse Cafe.  A big thank you to the few families who have already offered to help but we are well short of helpers on the dates provided and need more help. For each session we require 4-5 people and there are 3 time slots on each race day so that means 12-15 families are needed to volunteer their help on the day. Please return your roster slips to the office with the dates you can help.

Touch Rugby

The season starts on the first Tuesday in term 4 (Tuesday 13th October) and North Otago Junior Touch

would like to get as many games as possible in this term due to the short season in term 1. The teams

are the same as the first term and if anyone wishes to enter or pull out of a team, please let Mrs Brien

know.

There are a few more children interested in playing so we need definitely need to know if your child is

not going to play this season. If your child commits to a team, they need to turn up each week to play or

let your coach know if they cannot.

The Yr 1/2/3 Tigers team currently has 14 players and will need to split into two teams and will require

another coach. Please let the office know if you can help.

North Otago Touch Rep trials are being held on Sunday 20th September at 3.00 pm at Centennial

Park.  Age groups are boys/girls for U12, U14 and U16.  All welcome.
