1. Principal's News Term 3, Week 3 2020

Quadrangular
Well done to a selection of our year 6-8 students who competed in the Catholic Schools' Quadrangular in Dunedin yesterday.  They competed well and I am told their conduct was a credit to our school and their families.  Thank you to the parents who helped as coaches and Mrs Brien for organising us. St Kevin's/St Joseph's finished 4th at this tournament.

Road Crossing
I have been told there have been a couple of near misses on our zebra crossing before school.  We do not run a before school road patrol.  Please remind your children to be very careful when crossing the road here and all road crossings.  Thank you.

Otago Community Trust Funding
A big thank you to Otago Community Trust who have given us substantial funding.  We will be using this for classroom robotics and coding equipment which will help us address the updated technology curriculum.  We will also be getting some creative play/carpentry equipment.  Even though we don't know our future location at the moment, the Enviroteam will also be designing some fun gardens.  The last thing we are planning is some murals done on plywood which we can use to update our environment and which are movable if necessary.

Our Enviroteam are looking for inspiration for gardens and if you have some cool designs or ideas you would like to share please send them in with your child.

Upcoming Dates
Please note upcoming dates in the school notices section.
At the start of the year ,August 10th was advertised as a teacher only day.  It is NO longer a teacher only day and school will be open as normal.
Auditions for Singing Cup are next week.

School Production
Our year 7 & 8 students are presently auditioning for the main parts in our school production which we will have in term 4.  The production will be based around Creation myths.  This is tying in with our learning in science.  It helps us think about the capabilities of "Perspective Taking" and "Making Meaning."  We are doing this by looking at natural phenomena and then looking at myths that might explain them and also the science that explains them.  Both have their own type of "truth" and we can talk about how both perspectives make meaning within their own discipline.
